Customer from: Canada
Product: Bakuchiol
Feb. 24, the Canadian customer bought 1kg of Bakuchiol from Plamed. March 12, she praised that Plamed bakuchiol is excellent. No strong pungent smell, color even no impurities visible.
Light color and light odor are important characteristics of cosmetic raw materials, which affect the direct feeling of the final product to consumers.
Bakuchiol produced by Plamed has a content of over 98%, with light yellow color and gentle odor, good dissolution in butanediol, clear solution without any impurities, as shown in the figure below.
Considered a natural alternative to retinol, Bakuchiol can be used to reduce the signs of skin aging and has significant benefits for both sensitive and oily skin.
Bakuchiol can help accelerate the renewal of the epidermis, making it thicker and more orderly. It can also direct the dermis to accelerate the production of collagen, and inhibit the destruction of collagen by the metalloproteinase (MMP).
Firstly, bakuchiol is an antioxidant, it can play a certain oil control effect.
Secondly, bakuchiol is also a whitening ingredient. Bakuchiol is used to replace retinol to promote collagen synthesis. It can improve skin elasticity, and improve wrinkles, fine lines, as well as inhibit tyrosinase, and repair pigmented skin.
Bakuchiol is much safe for topically use than retinol.
“Retinol is our holy grail,” said dermatologist Mona Gohara, an associate clinical professor of dermatology at Yale University. “Retinol is a derivative of vitamin A that increases collagen synthesis. It also is known for reducing the breakdown of collagen. Unfortunately, it has side effects to the skin, such as peeling, dryness or redness. Retinol is FDA listed as a Class C drug and has potential risks for pregnant women.”
However, bakuchiol is increasingly popular in the skincare market, as a plant-derived retinol alternative. “It has the effects of vitamin A without the side effects,” Gohara said. “Not only is it clinically comparable to retinol, it’s not irritating, and bakuchiol is safe for most skin types.” What’s more, unlike retinol that breaks down in sunlight, bakuchiol can be used during the day and night.
Some formulators and doctors believe that bakuchiol is safe during pregnancy and lactation. But many researchers believe that because the action pathways of bakuchiol and retinol are too similar, there are many overlapping genes regulated. So it is recommended to use with caution for pregnant and breast feeding women.
