1. Kojic Dipalmitate Overview
As a new high-efficiency whitening agent, kojic dipalmitate not only overcomes the kojic acid’s shortcomings, such as instability to light, heat and metal ions, as well as poor skin absorption, but also keeps the effective skin-whitening benefit. Kojic dipalmitate has a strong inhibitory effect on the production of melanin in the skin. In terms of inhibiting tyrosinase activity, it can combine with copper ions to prevent the activation of copper ions and tyrosinase. Moreover, kojic dipalmitate can prevent the production of dark spots and freckles, and promote the metabolism of the skin.

2. Kojic Dipalmitate Origin
Kojic dipalmitate is is synthesized by acylation of kojic acid and palmitoyl chloride. Since the acylation reaction is violent and exothermic, and kojic acid is sensitive to light and heat and is easily oxidized in the air, organic solvents are often used to prepare kojic dipalmitate and the reaction temperature is controlled.

5. Kojic Dipalmitate Benefits for Skincare
Kojic dipalmitate’s mechanism is mainly to inhibit tyrosinase activity. It is a new type of kojic acid derivative. It has excellent functionality, compatibility, stability and safety as a whitening agent.
Clinical trial has shown that kojic dipalmitate has an effective rate of 50% in eliminating color spots and chloasma, and the total effective rate is more than 90%. Compared with kojic acid, it has a higher whitening effect.
In terms of compatibility, it is almost compatible with any preservatives and sunscreens; it is compounded with vitamin C or vitamin C derivatives to exert a synergistic effect. Due to the active 2.5-position hydroxyl group in the molecular structure of kojic dipalmitate, its sensitivity to light and heat is significantly reduced; it is not easy to be oxidized and yellowed in the air, and its chemical stability is also very strong.
Since there is no hydroxyl group in its molecular structure, it will not form hydrogen bonds with preservatives, sunscreens or other active ingredients added in the cosmetic system to affect the efficacy of these additives, and has good compounding properties. Kojic dipalmitate, as a fat-soluble active agent, not only makes it easier to formulate, but also offers the skin a good moisturizing effect.
